Review: Mirror for Chromecast

Mirror for Chromecast is an application that allows you to mirror the screen and audio of your iPhone or iPad to various Chromecast devices, including Chromecast 1, 2, 3, Ultra, Android TV, and Google TV. With this app, you can easily mirror any app on your iPhone or iPad to your Chromecast.

While overall functionality is smooth, there is a slight latency of a few seconds (typically between 2 and 4 seconds), which makes it unsuitable for gaming. However, it excels in other areas such as watching movies, giving presentations, and viewing photos.

How It Works

1. Ensure that your iPhone or iPad is connected to the same local network as your Chromecast. Avoid using multiple VLANs or subnets.
2. Launch the Mirror for Chromecast app and let it search for available Chromecast devices on your local network. Select the desired Chromecast once found.
3. Enable notifications for this app as they are used to provide updates on the status and functionality of your Chromecast. It is crucial to allow them to avoid any inconvenience.
4. To start mirroring, click on "Start Mirroring" after selecting the desired Chromecast. The mirroring will seamlessly continue even if you switch to other apps on your iPhone or iPad.
5. To stop mirroring, you have two options: either tap on the red top bar visible on your device's screen or navigate to the Mirror for Chromecast app and click on "Stop Mirroring".

The Mirror for Chromecast Pro Version offers additional features that enhance the overall experience:

1. Removes the watermark from the player on TV.
2. Provides free lifetime updates for the app.
3. Enables sound even when the watermark is displayed on TV.

Please note that purchasing the Pro Version requires an in-app purchase. Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account upon confirmation of purchase. Subscription to the Pro Version automatically renews unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The cost of renewal will be charged to your account within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal in your Account Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited upon subscribing to the Pro Version.

Before using Mirror for Chromecast, it is important to understand its limitations and known issues:

• DRM: Screen Mirroring may be blocked by certain apps like Netflix, Disney, and AppleTV+. Developers have the discretion to restrict Screen Mirroring within their apps.

To determine if an app allows Screen Mirroring, perform a simple test:

1. Open the desired app and access Control Center on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Select "Screen Recording" from Control Center and start recording the screen, saving it to your Camera Roll.
3. Review the recorded video in your Photos app. If the video displays the app you want to mirror, it indicates compatibility. If the video is empty, that means the app does not support Screen Mirroring.

Note: While notifications about Screen Recording may appear, rest assured that no screen content is recorded or sent to external servers by Mirror for Chromecast. Data is temporarily stored in memory before being streamed to the TV and is promptly removed afterward.
